Here, we have an incredibly desirable transition-era 1964 Epiphone Olympic built by Gibson at the legendary Kalamazoo, Michigan factory.

asymmetrical Coronet-style body with the iconic "Batwing" headstock

The Body: Asymmetrical solid mahogany slab body (the lower horn is slightly shorter than the upper horn).

The Neck & Fretboard: One-piece Honduran mahogany neck capped with a dark, high-grade Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard.

The Headstock: The distinct, curved 6-in-a-line "Batwing" profile featuring the gold Epiphone logo silk-screened or inlaid on the bass side.

Pickups & Electronics: Two narrow, black single-coil pickups mounted directly into a wide white pickguard

Manufactured in May 1964.

Highly prized, authentic late-1964 "transition" model, as it proves the electronics were produced months before the guitar was assembled and shipped with that iconic "Batwing" headstock.

Potentiometer

• 134 = Manufacturer: pot was made by Centralab (versus the more common 137 CTS pots Gibson used), which is highly accurate for mid-60s Epiphones.
• 64 = Year: The components were manufactured in 1964.
• 18 = Production Week: The 18th week of the year, placing its production between late April and early May of 1964.

Because guitars take time to move through the factory layout, a pot made in May 1964 means this guitar was likely completed and shipped between late summer and winter of 1964. This timeline perfectly matches the exact window when Gibson first began experimenting with the 6-in-a-row Batwing headstock on the Epiphone line before making it the catalog standard in 1965.
