10 HP interactive gate sequence generator and source of randomness
The length of output gate signals can be directly controlled or affected by a variable amount of randomness to create rhythmic variation.
Probability can be set to generate notes that are twice or four times as long, such as quarter or eighth notes, if your clock signal is set to sixteenth notes.
The evolution knob provides immediate control of the degree of randomness and repetition, from identical repetition of the sequence through a slow evolution, or up to complete randomness where each step gets re-randomized.
The density of output notes is easily controllable, ranging from no output to all notes playing.
Interactive and responsive controls makes the module suitable as an improvisational tool during a live performance or jam, without taking up too much space in the case.
An external regular clock pulse steps the sequence forward, and a reset signal can be used to synchronize with the rest of the patch. An additional input can be used to generate output only at certain times.
A single sequence can be stored in memory and quick restored later, allowing you to go back to a known good sequence during a performance. The sequence is stored in an internal memory which persists without power.
